Planting Tamarack in riparian zone

My father has had some old ditches bordering a couple of hay fields dug out to promote better drainage and improve hay quality. He would like to plant Tamarack seedlings along the riparian zone of the ditches to help maintain the bank structure and provide wildlife habitat. What is the optimum spacing for the seedlings? Any other comments or suggestions on this topic would be very welcome!

    Hi Jared,

I reached out to a couple members regarding your questions and they have seen 7' or 8' spacing in older plantations do quite well. One member has planted tamarack in their own woodlots at 7' by 7' spacing, and the other has planted at 8' spacing. Hope this helps.
